Green-lipped mussel and omega-3 fish oil have the strongest evidence. Glucosamine is popular but the evidence is mixed. Give any joint supplement for six to eight weeks before you decide.
Do probiotics work for dogs?
Probiotics help most in short, predictable situations: a change of food, kennels, or a dog with a sensitive stomach. Give them for at least five days. Loose stools lasting more than 48 hours need a vet.
How to help your dog cope with fireworks
Walk your dog before dark, close curtains, play steady background noise, and give them a den to hide in. A calming chew one to two hours before can take the edge off. Very frightened dogs should see a vet well before the season.
